Sarah Sauer’s What do you See When You Look at Me is a wonderful picture book for kids by a debut author who loves animals.
What a great question to ask the reader? We see so many things in the course of a day. But do we ever really look at ourselves? Most of us don’t, and yet we are the most precious gifts to the world. We are all special and we all have special gifts to offer. We need to share these gifts with others by allowing other people to see who we are. But we also have to look at ourselves for who we are.
Sarah’s book consists of photographs of various animals that she took over time. She is a gifted photographer and is able to capture animals in their most natural habitat. One of her hobbies has been to take pictures. She was also encouraged to take pictures when she was a child. And now she uses her love of photography to enrich the content of this picture book.
I enjoyed talking to Sarah Sauer on the Stories for Children Show on Blog Talk Radio in April. She is one inspiring young lady who has struggled with brain cancer all of her life. But her love of writing, animals, and photography has helped her to cope and sustain her through the ups and downs of her illness. What a joy to know that writing and the love of animals can be such a powerful force in transforming a young person’s life! Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers Sarah.
I can’t wait to read your next book! You are truly an inspiration to me as I am sure you will be readers of this blog and everyone who reads this review as part of the World of Ink Tour that you are a part of!
