A Great Picture Book with an Educational Message

Is your child afraid of the dark, especially when (s)he is visiting friends and relatives and is in a new home and bed? If so, this book is a must read for your child.

What child isn’t afraid of the dark in a place that (s)he isn’t used to. In this story when Kate is about to visit her cousin Sophie, her fears of the dark take her to new levels of anxiety. Finally, when Kate’s aunt talks to her about the unrealistic nature of her fears, Kate feels relieved and learns a lot of important lessons in the process. This book will also encourage parents to enter into a dialogue with their kids about being afraid of the dark. The book should make it easier for parents to talk to their kids about this fear.

This book is one book in the side by side series by Ann de Bode in which children are helped to cope with difficulties or frightening experiences with the help of an adult. It is a great book for parents who are trying to teach kids how to cope with their emotions effectively.
